I grew up in Montana in the mid 1950s and always loved the big old house we use to live in there. Several years ago, I was told that the house had been torn down, making way for lots more people than when I was there. As a child I had always wanted a doll house, my Dad was a carpenter, but he just never seemed to get that doll house done. I now have two granddaughters. So putting together my love for that old house, the desire to have a doll house and leave some history for my granddaughters, I decided to build a replica of the old house I lived in when I was a child and put it into the form of a doll house.

Well, it has been really fun!!

I first got an old photo of the house, emailed my cousin in MN, who is a general contractor, to ask about the roof, what kind it was, what was the degree of slop or pitch of the roof. After gathering all the details about the house, I then made a pattern of the house to decide just how big I wanted this house to be.

After the planning stages, I then purchased the lumber and headed for my cousin that lives here in California and who has a table saw. Sawing this by hand would probably have taken a good number of hours, sweat and frustration. We did get if cut out and it is now put together, the exterior is finished and now the interior finishing will begin. The roof will be the last item to go up.
